Open air ‘site specific’ theatre is  a sure sign that the summer season is upon us. Gardens, parks, squares and river courses become playgrounds for performers and their audiences. And designers [finally] get the chance to work outdoors, and face a whole raft of new challenges.

This summer, IAN TEAGUE will design sets and costume for a new adaptation of George Orwell’s novel ANIMAL FARM at one of London’s largest and most established city farms.  Professionals and young actors from the East London borough of Newham will collaborate to create a distinctly urban take on a classic tale, surrounded by real farm animals.

Performances of ANIMAL FARM will take place between 18 and 24 August. But work on the design starts now. Design and collaboration work starts now! Photos soon.
