Selladoor’s Greenwich Young Writers Program supports ten participants from the Royal Borough of Greenwich aged 16-25.
The programme runs over a course of 20 weeks with weekly sessions run by Anna Fox and visiting lecturers facilitating the skills necessary to write and produce a ten-minute piece of theatre that will then be professionally produced at the Greenwich Theatre in the autumn.
The current programme began in March 2016 and will continue through to November (with breaks school holidays and exams) with the weekly session taking place on Monday’s 6:30pm – 8:30pm.
Alongside the sessions the company offers free additional visits to London theatre productions with recent visits including Wild by Mike Bartlett at The Hampstead Theatre and Sell a Door’s production of James and the Giant Peach at the Greenwich Theatre.
Sell a Door artistic director David Hutchinson said: “We are delighted to be supporting the next generation of young writers in our home borough of Greenwich, having commissioned and developed new writing for years with regional theatres across the UK.”
He added: “The Greenwich Young Writers’ Group will give a platform for new voices on UK stages, and the course promises to offer participants a diverse and varied insight into the processes behind developing new dramatic work for stages in the UK.”
